XP’s built-in firewall stops in-bound traffic; it does not stop outbound traffic. Zone Alarm is more advanced in that it also stops outbound traffic. As of XP SP2, the firewall has been upgraded and has additional security features, but it still does not block outbound traffic. You should decide if you want to use a third-party product and disable XP’s built-in firewall.
